BBPA team completes Three Peaks Walk for Paralympics GB
23.06.2008

On 21st June, a group of 11 intrepid staff from the British Beer & Pub Association (BBPA) took part in the Three Peaks Walk in the Yorkshire Dales. Despite driving rain, howling winds and fog, most of the group completed the challenge and have so far raised over £1200 for ParalympicsGB, the charity supporting disabled athletes.

The 25-mile route took in ascents of Yorkshire’s three highest peaks, Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, from where views would have been glorious had they not been shrouded in low cloud. Eight walkers completed the course within 12 hours, thereby qualifying to join the Three Peaks of Yorkshire Club.

ParalympicsGB helps to support British athletes, who will be competing in the Paralympic Games in Beijing this September, and in London in 2012. The charity was supported by many pubs this St George’s Day. Further donations will be gratefully received by the BBPA team at Just Giving

Notes to editor:
1. The British Beer and Pub Association is the UK’s leading organisation representing the brewing and pub sector. Its members account for 98 per cent of the beer brewed in the UK and own nearly two thirds of Britain’s 57,000 pubs.
